Update: Wedding pictures are now online!
At the request of everyone, here’s what’s been going on with us lately.
The trip to Richmond went very well. They put us up in a fancy hotel, took us out to eat at a nice Tapas restaurant, gave me a tour of the company (and both of their buildings), took me out to lunch, and gave Megan a guided tour of Richmond. Of course, they also flew us there and back.
Megan helped me get through some crippling anxiety on the trip (not really panic attacks, but I’ve had kind of constant low-level anxiety for the past few weeks). We both felt good “vibes” from the people and from Richmond, so we’re acting on that–we’ve decided to move there. With some help from Jason and Angela, we’re going to do our best to find an apartment there next week. We’re aiming to be all moved and have me ready to get to work by the middle of January.
In the meantime, this Friday (15th of December, if you want to keep up) Megan and I got married. We had a very small ceremony at Burgess Falls. We had almost decided to just go to the county clerk and get everything taken care of there, but we went for something a little more meaningful (but almost as small).
So, in the popular tradition these days, we made a great friend of ours into a minster/officiant. Kevin did an excellent job, and we didn’t even ask to hear what he was going to say before he said it at the ceremony. The only other people present were Megan Edwards and both sets of parents (parents were kind of a last-minute addition–but it was a good decision and made it feel somewhat more official).
The weather was excellent, and the walk to the falls was thankfully uneventful. We scoped out the trails the day before, and realized that the steep/slippery path that we usually go would probably be too much for a gaggle of well-dressed parents.
The whole thing was basically that we invited a few people to our elopement. But don’t fret! We’re going to have a big party/wedding celebration in the spring. There will be official invitations sent, wedding cake to be eaten, and all that stuff.
More to come…

We want pictures!!! We’re so happy you and Megan shared this event with us. (Thank you for inviting the parents.)
Wicked keen. Congratulations!
The Piepmeier parents thank you for inviting the parents, too! We were very happy you allowed us to share this beautiful event with you. We love you both!
