Damn. I’m not sure I fully understood this, but I think I should, because it seems to relate rather intimately to the work I’m doing on zines. I have a chapter on why materiality matters, and how form affects content. I read all the Scott McCloud books and have been thinking about how zines are different than blogs, how books are different than digital media, etc.
Do you know the work of Henry Jenkins? He’s another scholar who’s studying this stuff–the web, convergence culture– in terms of its cultural rather than technological significance.
